ATEX-certified magnetic proximity sensors

For several years, celduc® relais has developed strong expertise in the design and manufacturing of ATEX-certified magnetic proximity sensors dedicated to hazardous environments.

As a notified manufacturer under the Directive ATEX 2014/34/UE (INERIS 04ATEXQ406), celduc® relais offers a comprehensive range of magnetic proximity sensors designed to ensure safety and reliability in explosive atmospheres.

ATEX Certification & Compliance

celduc® relais products are certified according to strict European standards, with EC-type examination certificate:
INERIS 04ATEX0105

Equipment classification

  • Group II: Equipment intended for use in surface industries (excluding mining), where explosive atmospheres caused by gas or dust may occur.

Zones & Categories

  • Category 1 → Zone 0: Continuous or long-term presence of explosive atmosphere
  • Category 2 → Zone 1: Occasional presence of explosive atmosphere

Types of atmosphere

  • G: Gas environments
  • D: Dust environments

Protection methods

  • “i” (Intrinsic Safety): Suitable for Zone 0 applications
  • “m” (Encapsulation): Suitable for Zone 1 applications

Temperature classes

  • T6: max surface temperature 85°C
  • T4: max surface temperature 135°C
  • T3: max surface temperature 200°C

Standard configurations

  • Cable lengths available: 5 m or 10 m

Applications in Hazardous Environments

ATEX magnetic proximity sensors are essential in industries where explosive atmospheres may be present. Typical applications include:

  • Petroleum & fuel distribution: detection of nozzle positioning or system status
  • Chemical industry: monitoring of equipment in solvent-rich environments
  • Paint and coating processes: control of mixers and moving parts
  • Bulk storage (dust environments): position detection in silos or handling systems

These sensors ensure reliable detection without generating sparks, significantly reducing ignition risks.
