celduc® relais invests in semiconductor production to drive performance and environmental responsibilityThis article, written by Mr. EL RAYES, Managing Director of celduc® relais, comes at a pivotal moment for the European semiconductor industry. In a context where technological sovereignty, industrial performance, and environmental responsibility are more critical than ever, he shares the strategic vision behind a major decision: bringing the production of our own semiconductors in-house.
In this piece, Mr. EL RAYES outlines the profound shifts shaping our sector, the role celduc® aims to play, and the conviction that drives our choices: building an industry that is more resilient, more sustainable, and more innovative — for our customers and for the region that supports us.
Semiconductors may be invisible, but they are indispensable. They power our modern world: vehicles, energy infrastructure, medical equipment, communication systems. Without them, technological innovation, manufacturing progress, and the energy transition simply cannot happen.
Yet today, over 70% of global production of these essential components is concentrated in Asia. This dependency weakens our industry and exposes Europe to major risks of supply disruption and economic instability.
At celduc® relais, we have chosen to act concretely and at scale.
Since our founding, celduc® has built a reputation for excellence based on quality, precision, and reliability. Every solid-state relay, every power module, every safety sensor is designed with the same standard: to deliver premium performance, exceptional durability, and seamless integration into the most demanding industrial environments.
This premium approach, driven by a culture of detail and innovation, distinguishes us in the global marketplace. Our customers, industry leaders in their fields, choose our products for their proven robustness and the technological value we integrate at every stage, from design to final production.
In alignment with the European Chips Act, which aims to double semiconductor production by 2030, we are taking a decisive step forward in our technological development. Today, we inaugurate a state-of-the-art hybrid production line, entirely dedicated to manufacturing our power components and assembling electronic modules on-site.
This new line is a true technological bridge between development and industrialization. It strengthens our process control, improves the reliability and durability of our modules, and gives celduc® unprecedented agility to meet the needs of the most demanding markets.
Through this strategic investment of several million euros, celduc® becomes one of the few European players to produce its own semiconductors on-site, securing our supply chains and consolidating our technological sovereignty.

For over 10 years, our strategy has been built on complete vertical integration: design, manufacturing, assembly, and quality control are all performed in-house. This control over our value chain guarantees the highest reliability in the market, optimized delivery times, and total traceability in compliance with international standards.
But this approach goes beyond industrial performance. By producing locally and reducing transportation, celduc® will significantly reduce its carbon footprint, particularly Scope 3 emissions linked to logistics. This commitment reflects our conviction that operational performance and environmental sustainability are inseparable.
This is how we prove that a French Medium Company can be simultaneously an innovation driver, a benchmark industrial partner, and a key player in local technological sovereignty.
This project is the result of close collaboration between our internal teams and several high-level French industrial partners. Located in Sorbiers (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), at the heart of an innovation and expertise ecosystem, our company relies on a dynamic manufacturing network to build solid and responsible growth.
In a global context marked by fragile supply chains and rising imports, we have made a clear choice: to prioritize proximity, control, and responsibility over dependence on “low-cost” models on the other side of the world. This direction is part of a long-term vision: an industry for 2030 – 2035 founded on responsiveness, traceability, and resilience.
Our investment goes far beyond the pursuit of industrial independence: it charts the course for emerging technologies. Our new production line, designed to accommodate the most advanced materials, enables us to develop power modules that are increasingly efficient, compact, and energy-optimized. These solutions, fully compatible with Industry 4.0 standards and beyond, contribute to the rise of electric mobility, smart grids, and cleaner, more sustainable energy, supporting a responsible industrial transition.
Every year, we reinvest a significant portion of our revenue into R&D and industrialization, and we will continue to do so, convinced that local innovation is the key to global competitiveness. With this investment, celduc® embodies the industrial “French Fab” spirit and affirms its role as a leading European technology player.

And this success would not have been possible without the commitment, expertise, and passion of our teams and experts, and especially the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. Together, with pride, conviction, and high standards, we are already preparing today the innovations of tomorrow.
